That's what I wanted. They came as described. The first thing I did was cut the handles off the big block. I didn't want them to hang out. I read the reviews before buying and yes the ottomans consist of an inner frame with black vinyl over it. That's normal for me because I knew what I was getting. I weigh 200 pounds and I'm not in the habit of sitting on it all the time, but I do sit on it from time to time. I have found that I almost never flip the lid and use it as a table. The large stool is strong enough to be used as a table. The fact that it is a tray with sides sticking out 3 inches rather than a flat table makes eating difficult. From the moment of purchase, I received a suede stool as a gift to match my sofa. So recently the little one was hidden in the big one. That's why I like it. Unlike a large coffee table, I can take it with me and move it wherever I want. I have a side table so I don't need a coffee table. And if I want to lie on the floor, I can just move them out of the way. As a side note, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the design. It's as described and I know it was only $50 but it's like a sock rated 5/5 at a dollar store. They're cheap, but that doesn't mean they're 5.
