I bought this lamp to use as a lamp and also to enhance conference calls in low light conditions. This lamp illuminates my face well when placed directly behind the monitor. Don't get me wrong, it's not great as a ring light - you don't want to record YouTube videos with it, but it's enough to illuminate your face so you don't look like you're living in a cave. the lamp works fine. You can take it anywhere, it is durable and cannot fall apart. Although it is durable, it is also very light. When I'm not using it as a ring light I have to bend it so the LEDs are below eye level. Otherwise, it looks like the LEDs are trying to catch my eye after a while. 4 brightness levels are a nice bonus.
