It's worth buying: cabinet fittings

I had the opportunity to buy new metal rails or find a replacement for wooden rails. I bought the metal one first, but I had to add new wood to the drawer and dresser to make it work. So I returned them. I took a chance and was hoping I could just replace a broken rail similar to the one in the first picture (it's not broken, it's slightly worn but will not be replaced at this time). They are different from the ones on the boxes, so I removed the old ones entirely and installed the new ones. I'm glad I did, they work great. I only added the plastic slide from the original slides because it fit and put less stress on the wood when the drawer was fully extended. and required a plastic rail to hold the drawer in place. The new one is what the seller showed, but I've added the original plastic guide just in case. If you're wondering if you can do it yourself, you can do it, I was nervous trying to do it, but it ended up being easier than I thought it would be for my dresser. I used my old parts to measure and cut the lengths, used the original screw holes to make screw holes in the new parts to make it easy to glue and nail the receiving rail, and just put the new rails back on screwed on.

Pros
  • Simple for traditional cabinet furniture drawer assembly.
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged
