Review on πŸš— AIR LIFT 59551 Rear Air Spring Kit for Enhanced Ride Control by Dee Rawls

Not a bad option, with one small note.

Let me start by saying that these bags worked well, did exactly what they were supposed to do and offered improved safety, performance and security on the go. They also come with well-made parts and very clear instructions that make installation much easier. The only thing I have concerns the placement of the top mounting bracket on the frame. On at least some trucks, the front holes on the top bracket need to be on the uneven area of the double-thickness rails that is next to the weld. in this area will weaken the frame. This isn't the case - the holes shouldn't go right through the weld, just next to it. (and not close enough to the actual weld to affect the heat-affected zone.) BUT the holes must go through the sleeve portion of the frame, so four (4) walls must be drilled (rather than just two (2)) as with the other holes ). But drilling holes in this area is not the main problem; Rather, the fact is that this section has a bulge to accommodate the overlap of the frame beam and thus this area is not flat. This means that when tightening, the fasteners can easily deform and not fully compress the shackle. They still offer full shear strength (which is the main concern) and these mounts and their mounts are oversized, but simply relocating or inserting a top mount filler plate/spacer will make the installation even safer. . This is more of a perception of a problem than a functional problem, but as an engineer myself, it's worth the small cost it takes to implement when there's a readily available and inexpensive solution to this perceived problem. This system greatly improves the loading capacity of these 1/2 ton trucks. Proper weight distribution can be maintained, headlight angle and braking performance will not be affected, and handling will not be as affected. This system SIGNIFICANTLY improves towing at or near the truck's limits, and towing any load provides benefits/improvements. The system is simple, efficient, easy to set up and unobtrusive - when you're not lugging anything, deflate your pockets and get on with your work. We remind you that when hitching or unhitching trailers, the bags must be deflated. This makes hitching and unhitching much easier as the suspension is smoother and the hitch doesn't have to be raised as high.
