Initially the device worked as advertised on my 2006 X5/E53 with EWS 4.3. In closing, I would like to say that I am an experienced professional electronics engineer who has an office full of expensive soldering tools, microscopes and other essentials required to utilize the EWS 4.x capabilities of this device. Do yourself a favour: If you have EWS 4.x, get a device that includes a programming stand for these boards. I had no idea until I opened the software how ridiculous the requirements would be. They force you to solder directly to two surface mount components that are easily damaged, misaligned, or shorted out. There is an 85-99.999% chance that non-electronic technologies will block their EMS. In fact, the software installation package also contains trojans, so please use an unwanted laptop that does not contain any personal information/logins or turn it in a virtual machine.
