I have been buying the wrong speaker cable for more than 30 years. As a teenager I was an aspiring DJ and now I'm the proud owner of a home theater. I've recently upgraded my AVR (probably the first thing I'll need to buy as I prepare for future media player and projector upgrades) and I have some old 6 ohm speakers I've been wanting to add. Based on placement, impedance, lots of videos and speaker forums, the answer was 12 AWG wire. As a precaution, when installing in an area with warm lighting, polarity can be somewhat difficult to determine. The shell is thick so PLEASE do yourself and your smile a favor and purchase some inexpensive general purpose wire strippers and wire cutters. DO NOT USE TEETH. I am not writing from experience. I am writing from a place of logic. It is pure copper and true to size. I hooked up my whole theater before my wife had finished breakfast.
