Review on EPICA Stainless Steel Compost Bin with Charcoal Filter - 1.3 Gallon Capacity by Drew Poulin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Activated carbon filter well masks the stench of rotting food and lazy dreams

I bought this desktop compost bin for my girlfriend as her old one was starting to leak. Delivery was quick and I brought it to her home on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the spring. We sat on the porch sipping chardonnay in what I misinterpreted as cozy silence. After a while I mentioned I had a little surprise for her and pulled the compost bin out of the box. She was elegant in her simplicity. The stainless steel finish gleamed in the sun, and the lid flipped back onto its side in a sly hello. She slapped the trash can out of my hand and yelled that she DON'T WANT that new compost bin. I loved. I was heartbroken as my hopes and dreams for our life together shattered and collapsed around me. Gone were thoughts of using the trash can as the makeshift champagne ice bucket we would share on our engagement night; as well as the thoughts of our future children who put orange peels and banana peels in this basket just to be pure fantasy, never to see the light of day. I clumsily kicked the remains of my heart and soul into a heap, then picked them up with numb fingers and placed them in the compost bin. Wow, for being unobtrusive and small, its 1.3 gallon capacity certainly fits in a lot. The lid fits snugly onto the top and remains there to this day. A few months later, the trash can is on the worktop in my one-room apartment. It cannot be said that it rots inside. There is no trace or smell of the rotting remains of my life, my hope, my heart that lay within. Four stars out of five because the grip could be a bit stronger. Would definitely buy again.

Pros
  • EASY CLEANING: The stylish stainless steel bin is molded in one piece and resists rust and leaks, unlike other bins which are welded and prone to rust and leaks at the welds. Time. Sustainability is always there.
Cons
  • I don't have much aversion to it, it's ok
