3 goals for a purchase

I bought this lock to attach a couple of bikes to a towbar mounted bike rack when traveling. My rack is a regular hitch rack with the bikes hanging from two bars. This lock serves three purposes in one purchase! 1. This is a very quick and easy way to mount bikes on a rack. It's not Manhattan-safe since it's just a cable, but it keeps you comfortable at gas stations and restaurants. I was even able to protect all 4 wheels of 2 bikes by running a cable through them. 2, It acts as an incredibly strong connecting rod to prevent bikes from detaching from the stand while riding. There is a great redundancy factor here as you don't need any other cables or elastic cords. I also like the one-way locking mechanism. This really allows you to tie the bikes tighter than any rope knot. And 3. When you arrive at the destination, you can use the lock as a normal bike lock again when you ride along. It's relatively light and can be rolled up tight enough to fit in a small pocket under the seat. Well, as a safety precaution, I should mention that you should also have a locking pin. Otherwise someone could technically dump your entire bike rack in the back of a truck in less than 30 seconds. And no, a bolt and nut does not count as a lock. You just added another 30 seconds to the clock. And the 6-foot cable isn't exactly generous when it comes to connecting multiple bikes together, but it turned out to be the perfect length for my purposes. I can tie 2 adult bikes to the back of the trunk. Other than that, there isn't a lot of extra cable and I had to get creative with how I routed it, but I wouldn't want the cable to be longer unless I had more bikes. An 8 foot cable would be enough for three bikes. I turned on the lock and opened it about 50 times with no problems. Sometimes the key can be a little tricky to unlock, but remember that we're dealing with a cam mechanism here, which means that the harder you pull, the tighter it tightens. So be smart and don't force anything and it will unlock smoothly.
