I needed an adapter to use two monitors on my Mac desktop. Apples are ridiculously expensive, but this one seems to have had good reviews and a reasonable price. The risk was worth it, the thing worked right away. I haven't tried it with any Mac laptop, but if it works that easily with a desktop, I can only imagine it will be fine. Complete rescue, I was obsessing over a monitor at work!
