We live in Minnesota and we have 3 large dogs. Therefore, we need a dog door strong enough to withstand a large flow of people and temperatures of -30 degrees below zero. The wind plowed open our model with a door. So we decided to switch to this 3-door model. What has changed in the game! The dogs got used to the extra effort required to open the lid multiple times, but it didn't matter much. The best part is that it's heavy enough to stay closed even in winter winds. An installation tip: the screws that come with the kit may not be long enough for your door. We just used some of the longer ones we already had. Otherwise it is very easy to install. Great dog door!
