This is a pretty good calcium carbonate that I used for a demo in the MS lab. It could be set on fire to white heat for 5 minutes, allowed to cool and placed on a watch glass. Dissolve with drops of distilled water, filter into a test tube, bubble CO2 through a straw and watch the solution turn milky. When left to stand overnight a good sediment formed at the bottom indicating the completion of the liming cycle. There are typical Cambridge lab demonstrations that you can search the web for details for free. In my case, instead of wire wrapped around a single chip, I used 3 chips fired evenly with a propane torch onto steel mesh and a coffee filter wrapped in a funnel to filter the solution.
