Better than expected. It's always very dark in my living room. The light I have has 3 sockets and is only on one side of the room so the other side is very dark even with a fluorescent wall light installed. I limit myself to using only 60w incandescent bulbs. This 50W bulb illuminates the room very well. It's so bright I don't have to plug a second corn head into a different outlet.
