We used this light to light up an 8'x5' closet/pantry. We use ours for washer/dryer and pantry; and for space reasons we use the tops of the dryer and sink as baking surfaces. A large blender (a 29-pound KitchenAid blender) sits above the dryer, and the top of the washer is used as an auxiliary work area. Both finishes have custom wood placed on each machine. We placed the light in the center of the cabinet at the front edge, just behind the doors and at the back of the door frame to avoid direct eye contact with the lamp. It floods the entire cabinet with bright white light - a task light that makes it easier to read text and quickly locate various items. I used double sided carpet tape to attach the light fixture to the ceiling. I wanted to overdo it with the tape, but I ripped off a two foot piece and ran it across the back of the lantern. It stuck to the drywall from the first press. I flipped the switch to the "on" position and ran an extension cord from the flashlight plug to a standard outlet to which I added a six-outlet outlet. If I leave the light in the "on" position, I can now turn it on and off with a simple detachable switch I added to the outlet - the light plugs into an additional switch and works like a light switch. primary switch. This lamp not only gives ample light but also a stream of pure white light for a large closet or pantry as detailed in this review. The ceiling didn't hold up well. The heat from the light softened the tape and it fell off (thankfully the zip ties kept it from falling to the floor). Then I used some Power Grab and it helped. In fact, heat speeds up the curing of the Power Grab. Everything is fine, the light works and lasts as expected.
