There was an access lock error

UPDATE [December 2020]: I haven't had a single boot error in 6 months since I replaced the passcode module :-) First review: I ordered this for the access lock module attached to it (not sold as a spare). I have a 2012 Colorado that had an access lock error and wouldn't start for 10 minutes. The access blocking module had 2 screws holding it in place and then you had to turn an internal latch inside the case to pull it out. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPROGRAM THE KEY/COMPUTER just because you changed a module. Once you've installed a new Access Blocking module, you'll need to perform a "relearn" process. It doesn't look like it failed when it restarted after 10 minutes. Here's what you need to do to make your car relearn the new combination lock: 1) Turn the key and try to start the car. Either nothing happens or it just keeps spinning. 2) Release the key and leave it in the RUN position 3) After 10 minutes the turn signal lock will turn on and then the light will turn off 4) Turn the key to the OFF position (do not erase) for at least 30 seconds. 5) Turn the key and try to restart again You have to do it at least 3 times and on the 4th it should work (I saw a couple of posts where people didn't get it right and it took 5-6 times Has ). I'll update the post in the future when I have more time to ride. This is an OEM recommended replacement part. As I only want the module I don't know if it matters but there are 2 part numbers Chevy recommends and there have been questions as to which is the correct one. When I went to the AC Delco website I found in the description that one appears to be for 4X4s and the other for non-4X4s. The one I ordered is for non-4X4 (D1403G). Some have suggested one each for manual and automatic transmission, but their descriptions make no mention of the type of transmission.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic
