Review on 🎨 Rust-Oleum Cabinet Refinishing Kit, 143 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Pure White – Transform Your Cabinets by Andrew Griggs

Apply several coats of paint, paying attention to the thickness of the top coat.

I recently repainted my kitchen with this kit. It's a *big* place so I ordered 2 - and could probably use the third. The shine remover worked like clockwork and following the advice here I first painted over it with a primer. (123 primers.) To be honest. Not even primer was enough. I had to apply several coats of primer and then a coat of white to really make this process easier. Instead I applied 3 coats of white paint and it was almost done. I bought a closet door paint sprayer. Back them up with cheap solo mugs and then spray them in. MUCH easier than the alternative! **NOTE: If you spray on the top coat, make it THIN. If it gets too thick, it will crack and turn yellow over time. **Also make sure your white base is free of spray paint bubbles - I assumed they would go away and they did. just not true. At some point I will probably have several doors. Overall it was worth it - my kitchen looks MUCH better now. But this is not an easy project. Plan at least a weekend (if you're helping multiple people), maybe more like a week or two if you're alone. RECOMMENDATIONS: Use a primer if your cabinets are dark. Buy a closet door paint sprayer or you'll be painting for weeks. If using a spray gun BE VERY CAREFUL with how much top coat (clear coat) is applied to it - too thick a coat and it WILL TURN YELLOW.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • boring packaging
