Prime first! in Interior & Exterior Exterior Paint

I painted the bathroom cabinets white and the kitchen cabinets linen. I'm happy with the finish and it feels solid. Hope it holds up over time. I read a lot of reviews beforehand and chose Prime. The directions say no primer is required but 4 coats of compound paint would be required to cover the maple cabinets. The kit allows you to apply 2 layers, taking into account the dimensions. If I use more than 2 layers, I have to buy an extra set. The primer also doesn't let the texture of the wood…

Easy to use with paint and primer

Read instructions fully before use. Then of course follow the instructions. Note that final glazing is optional; However, sealing must be done immediately prior to glazing. I have found that even "touching up" after a year or so still requires sealing of the touch up area and shading of the surrounding area. This product works: I used the white kit to completely paint the cabinet, turning a dark 70's maple color to white/white. The cabinets still looked good after 2.5 years. I tinted them in…

BEAUTIFUL results. Prime, use different paint

I like the product and my results! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my kitchen right now, but if like me you're going from dark to white cabinets, get ready. Really really helps get even coverage and you won't be using nearly as much of a tie coat. I applied 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of bond. I also didn't use the polish that came with the kit after reading the bad reviews. I used 3-4 coats of water based polycrylic and I really like its durability. Make sure to remove any shine remover or you'll end up…

I recently repainted my kitchen with this kit. It's a *big* place so I ordered 2 - and could probably use the third. The shine remover worked like clockwork and following the advice here I first painted over it with a primer. (123 primers.) To be honest. Not even primer was enough. I had to apply several coats of primer and then a coat of white to really make this process easier. Instead I applied 3 coats of white paint and it was almost done. I bought a closet door paint sprayer. Back them up…

Requires preparation and more work than stated on the box.

Unless your cabinets are already white, two coats of this color will not adequately cover the old paint. My cabinets were quite a tan and needed at least 3 coats of paint or they looked yellow. This means that the coverage calculations (100 square feet) are not accurate. After completing a set of cabinets I did more research and decided it would be better and cheaper to use a primer first. The primer only costs about $12. (Zinser 123). I ended up applying 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint.

Very durable and good looking

I have used this product twice in two different kitchens and I have to say it is a very affordable way to transform your kitchen. I made a red kitchen and a white kitchen in our last home. One review mentioned that it should premiere first, which was a good idea! I bought Zinsser 123 Bull's Eye's Primer/2 gallons for about $40 (Home Depot). After removing the shine, I applied two coats of primer before using the paint from the kit. If you don't prime first, you will most likely need to apply…
