About what you would expect from a non-cache NVMe

So this is a 256GB model. When I first received this for review I did a little searching and there were 2 models of NVMe SSDs on the Kimtigo website: KTP-600 and KTP-700. The one on Revain says it's "KTP-660", judging by the configuration it probably matches the KTP-600. The difference between the two is capacity, and the KTP-700 has a DRAM cache. I believe the 1TB model could be the KTP-700 model as the KTP-600 was not available in a 1TB version at the time of receipt while the KTP-700 was. At the time of writing this review, the 700 is no longer available in 1TB (possibly due to Chia Coin mining). So this thing works like an NVMe SSD without DRAM. It probably uses HMB (Host Memory Buffer which allows SSD to use system memory as cache), has Silicon Motion sm2262xt. The maximum sequential read/write speed for me is 2300/1200 Mbit/s respectively, and the boot time is 10 seconds more or less, so basically a little faster than a SATA SSD and basically no noticeable difference compared to a more powerful NVMe SSD . It looks like NAND is branded as Kimtigo so they either make NAND themselves or they rebrand other NANDs and I'm inclined to believe the former as Kimtigo seems to make DRAM and NAND. With a small heatsink, the idle temperature is around 33 C and does not exceed 47 C under load. Without a heatsink they are at least 5 degrees higher. So overall I'm not sure how long this thing will last, and for $40 you can probably wait or shell out for deals on better SSDs like the WD SN750 or SK Hynix P31. an additional $10-15 for the 500GB model on sale. Considering the Sabrent Rocket 256GB was only $30 on Revain at one point, I wouldn't randomly buy it, but at least it works as expected with no issues. Oh I forgot, it comes with screws, screwdrivers. . This was tested on Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG X570 with 16GB 3200MHz RAM.

  • Impressive
Cons
