We recently moved and had to fly with two cats. These belts were awesome! When we had to escort the cats through security they couldn't get out of them and the top handle really helped get them out of the way. I also took my more adventurous cat for a little walk after we settled into the new place and he had no problem moving around or holding on to the harness. However, they do not wear harnesses. I can say that they seem to offer the most comfort and freedom of movement I have ever seen. And yes, they should be tight - tighter than you think. I promise your squirming, loose-skinned cat that can fit in a tiny space will be fine. :)
