Review on πŸ” Sky-Watcher 150mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope - Advanced Compound-Style Reflector with Large Aperture by Tim Knoepfle

High quality optics on catadioptric

I ordered this scope direct from Revain and it arrived in a badly tattered box and I thought the collimation wasn't working and it might have jammed optics. Without hesitation they sent me a brand new scope with a green dovetail rail. And having had a chance to play around with both scopes I can say the following. The "clamped" optics were actually air currents inside the tube. I didn't let the scope cool long enough to get used to the outside air. So that's the first thing you should know about using this telescope. Give it plenty of time to cool down. I have 5" and 6" Cassegrains and didn't think 7" would make such a big difference in size! This tube is big if you're used to small telescopes. But it really works! Jupiter was a Target I like to portray. With this telescope I can EASILY see the cloud bands and the Great Red Spot. The moons are also clearly visible. The rings of Saturn are very easy to identify, although Cassini's division proved difficult to spot, probably because the planet is very low on the horizon in my hemisphere. , a single exposure image and the other stacked image. I'm using a DSLR to take photos and Jupiter is a bit lower. So if you're using a planetary webcam and/or Jupiter for you higher in the sky is, your pictures will look much better.
