Review on 🚲 Enhanced Blackburn Outpost Bicycle Frame Bag by Larry Blanco

I was agonizing over which frame bag to buy based on all the brands and sizes available. I wanted a bag that would maximize my luggage capacity in the open triangular space between my top tube and the bottom of the frame for long rides, so I bought a large Blackburn Outpost frame bag. When it arrived I was initially disappointed as it seemed too small for my XL bike frame and too big for my wife's small bike frame. When fully opened, the large bag reached the bottom of the seat tube on my wife's bike and slightly interfered with her rear sprocket. Rather than return the bag, I put it on my XL frame (it was 5 inches taller than my rear sprocket when fully extended), packed it up, and took it on a long trip. Even though the bag was a bit smaller than I wanted, I was very impressed with its stability and durability, so I will keep it for bike rides and everyday use. For a large bag, you need at least 19 inches of space from the seat tube along the bottom of the top tube to the front of the bike. The front of the bag then drops about 3 inches straight down, so you need to make sure you have at least 3 inches of space between the top tube and the bar that runs from the bottom to the front of the bike, which is where the front of your bag will be. The large pocket extends approximately 10.5 inches down the seat tube when fully open. So make sure there is at least 10.5 inches of clearance along the seat tube between the top tube and the top of the chain. The width of the bag seemed perfect. It was very tight but didn't rub my legs when pedaling when full. I didn't purchase a medium bag, but the website says the medium bag is 2 inches shorter than the large, so you'll likely need at least 17 inches of space extending forward from the seat tube along the bottom of the top tube. Bike fits in a medium-sized bag, while all other dimensions are the same as a large bag. The Blackburn bag may not match the more expensive custom made bags, but the Blackburn costs a lot less and is very durable. , and well designed. Haven't tried it in the rain but I expect it will protect from light rain. But I would put my valuables in a plastic bag if exposed to a heavy downpour.
