Review on Air Lift 89289 LoadLifter 2014 2017 by Julio Black

Easy leaky bag installation, terrible removal.

I really wanted it to work. Since becoming a satisfied Timbren customer for my newest truck, I've been wary of using airbags. But I switched to a 5th wheel and a bigger truck and my friend talked me into pneumatic lifts. I'm very mechanical by nature so installation was very easy. However, SS braided cords ran through the fittings from the start. After the fittings stopped leaking, I struggled to get the system to hold the air. Multiple calls to Air Lift were useless. I decided to buy an air tank and fill the bags as needed as I only use them when towing my 5th bike. Well the last straw was that last ride when I added 30# air, drove 2 hours and found my airbags at a campground at 13# air. So I decided to remove the system by buying new timbres for my RAM 2500. This is where I really found the poor quality of these Air Lift Liftloader 5000 Ultimate Plus. After 4 months of installation the bolts became very soft and all 4 bolts connecting the top plate to the OEM RAM weld nuts melted into the nuts. They could not be extracted and using various methods I discovered how bad the components are. I can't guarantee it's porcelain steel, but all the bolts and fasteners are of such poor quality that I actually had to take the truck back to the dealer to have the weld nuts repaired/replaced, which cost almost $300. In the end all 4 OEM weld nuts had to be removed as the bolts were so soft they melted into the nuts. No heat, no vise, no easy exits, etc. will solve the problem. This is the worst aftermarket purchase I have ever made for my trucking and towing needs. If I thought I could sue to get my money back, I would. However, no relief or satisfaction is expected from the Air Lift, so I accepted eating the price of the product and the repair labor. Buyers beware - you've been educated.
