Impressed by Anker's latest USB-C hub

I recently bought a new laptop with limited ports. Like all new laptops on the market, you get a powerful device with a sleek design that unfortunately limits the space for ports. The trend is usually towards a USB-C, and if you're lucky you'll get another USB-C and USB A. Then you'll have to buy a bunch of hubs or adapters for the connection you want it HDMI. or an SD card reader. Etc. I know some people will argue that all tech companies are moving towards wireless and cloud computing, which…

  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons

USB accessories disabled

After a few weeks on two MacBook Pros I get a message that USB accessories are disabled when I connect them. The device becomes very hot at the connection point of the cable and the device housing. Tried two different MacBook Pros and same thing. Tried different ports. Absolute rubbish. Disables all other ports.

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Doesn't work with adapters

As is usual in the tech, some idiot has to come up with a new 'standard' fitting every 2 years. It was USB, then Micro-USB, not USB-C. This causes a huge problem as companies don't support rotating hardware to keep up with connectivity changes. With T460, WFH is essential during this Covid19 fiasco, but my Thinkpads HDMI connection sucks. I was hoping this would fix things but no luck. Using a USB-C to USB adapter just shows the display is unavailable with useless troubleshooting options. $25…

Not supported with MacBook Pro

I received this adapter because it was a Revain Choice product and I needed a USB-C adapter with multiple types of connectors. After I got it and plugged it into the HDMI port, my MacBook Pro 2018 version didn't support it. Very disappointed. The description states that my specific computer model is supported. Wouldn't buy for Mac users! The suitcase was a nice addition.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Anker is amazing

This is why I love Anker products. They always produce quality devices that just work. I installed an Anker USB-C hub, 5-in-1 USB-C adapter, connected an HDMI cable, and Boom! Displaying videos on the second monitor worked. Lenovo's USB-C dock costs $150 more and does the same thing but doesn't include an SD/TF card reader. Well done anchor. I'm an Anker fan, but that's because I buy their products.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • ---

Now it's not a laptop, mesh network, or anything too complicated. But the reason Anker's slight premium over similar products here is worth it, in my opinion, is the attention to detail - both in the device's function and aesthetics. Have a few Anker items from boost packs to BT headphones, chargers and cables. and still use them years later. You don't normally expect that from a manufacturer with no name. Giving the benefit of the doubt (and lots of money) to the nameless who don't deserve it.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • No power

actually improves performance

I didn't want to switch to USB-C a few years ago when Apple first introduced it in the MacBook. Last year I collapsed because I use a lot of peripherals (mechanical keyboard, multiple external monitors, USB mice, external hard drives, etc.) and switch computers and locations frequently. I bought a few other hubs looking for a deal, but they had similar issues - not good resolution through monitors, not being able to power each USB hub, and/or lagging/poor keyboard and mouse performance . Heard…

Portable hub 5/5 KICK ASS! RECOMMENDED

I've had the Apple Hub for a long time and to be honest I'm tired of it. My hobby is photography and video, so I have many devices and gadgets to transfer data to my computer. I have to say I don't usually do reviews but if I do then the product has to be NADOR. This Anker USB-C is the perfect solution for me. This is without a doubt one of the best buys I've made this year. The packaging looks super professional, as you would expect from an Apple Store. Design, feel and not to mention I didn't
