Oil Based Sharpie Marker

I ordered these markers to bring my many Pinterest based marker project ideas to life. If you want to do any of the plate/mug marker projects, be sure to use oil-based markers. I have used these markers on various projects and am happy with them. Once you get the ink moving (make sure you really shake it up and then use some scrap paper until you get the smooth line of ink you want) it moves evenly and smoothly. After my first record had set for a few days (although it hadn't been heated yet), I gave it a try. The ink stayed in place until I tried to wash it off. Despite the fact that I hand washed, the ink started peeling off the plate. It didn't come off completely, but most did. Needless to say I was disappointed. The next set of plates I tried, I used Pinterest's "cook method" for plates after the ink had dried. I put them in a cold oven and then preheated it to 425 degrees. Once it got to temperature I cooked them for 45 minutes and then let them cool in the oven. The ink hasn't moved since, even after washing! The only minor downside is that the colors are understandably a bit muted. The black didn't change at all, but the red became claret and the white creamier (against the blue background). I still love her looks and get lots of compliments on the job.
