I bought these for my 4.5 year old son. They are perfect for his 10.5 feet, with little room to grow. The sole is very soft, soft. I LOVE the closed toe feature as my son is very active outside. They protect his feet and still allow air to flow around his feet thanks to the well-placed ventilation openings. The Velcro fastener fixes them perfectly around the foot. And we've also tried on socks that offer extra protection from sand and mud when you're playing in a muddy outdoor area and want to keep your feet clean.
