Apply Mystic Heather to hair. I didn't thin with conditioner (like some people do in many of the tutorials I've seen), I used full strength color. I have really thick hair about an inch below my shoulders and it took me 2 glasses to cover my head. but 3 would be better as i missed some places. After bleaching, my poor hair was thirsty and practically drank all the color. I left it on for 30 minutes and then washed. I like the way it looks. I'll have to go through it again to fix what I missed, but I like it. The color is more pink than purple but I like it. My suggestion: Pay close attention to the instructions and watch the Tish and Snooki video on the Manic website. Make sure the hair color is lathering. If you can, run your hands through your hair to make sure it isn't dry in areas that could get tangled. If you have a lot of hair, dividing it into small pieces will help you. Buy more dye than you think you'll need in case you miss a spot and need to comb your hair again. I added photos. For some reason the front of my hair is treated differently than the rest and I tried to show it. In the photo in the diptych, my hair in natural light right after coloring. ---- To edit! I wanted to go back to my review to let you know how the color faded and some other tips I learned. Hope this helps the next person looking for information. I've had a very hard time finding feedback and help for Mystic Heather. So after my review, I touched up the areas I accidentally missed and then left them for a little over a month. At the top of my head, where my roots are, the color stayed purple, just a little lighter. In length, it became pastel pink. In the darker areas that were worked up to 7 and had some orange tones, the hair took on this really beautiful rose gold color that's becoming more popular these days. I was happy with that. In the areas I could get down to 9, the color turned to a silvery pink. Overall, it looked like a pastel pink and purple ombre. Wash your hair with dry shampoo as little as possible. My hair and scalp are naturally very dry and I live in a dry climate so my hair can last about 2 weeks without looking or smelling bad if I keep it clean and tidy. I don't usually do that much between shampoos, but when I do it helps my color stay better for longer. Here's how I wash my hair: I take a conditioner (usually a thick deep conditioner) and apply it to the ends and mid-lengths. I take as little shampoo as possible and apply it to the roots and then rinse it out. Then I go back to it with more conditioner. I recently toned my color and this time I left the color in for almost 3 hours instead of 30 minutes and my hair turned deep purple. The color is almost aubergine/aubergine, but a little more pink. I love it and I think it looks great. The darker color helps camouflage my dark dark roots. My roots are a very dark chocolate brown and I have some gray hair. Purple has little to no effect on roots and gray, but it blends seamlessly with them and makes roots less unsightly. I'm trying to touch up the roots for as long as possible, so whatever helps is good. If I color my hair now, I give myself 2 days to do it. Because I always inevitably skip a seat. I don't know about others but I have a lot of hair and I'm not a professional colorist so I'm kinda missing something somewhere and I don't see it until I'm done and my hair is dry. So I buy 3 pots and use the first 2 on the first day to cover my entire head (I apply the length first because it takes longer to process than the roots. When I finish covering my length they are already processing 15 -20 minutes when I get to the roots) and then dry and mark the spots I missed. Then I use the third pot to color the parts I forgot and leave it for the same amount of time as the first. I douche in the coolest water I can stand (if you stick your head in the tub or sink instead of showering, you'll find that you can handle cooler water since it doesn't run all over your body) and I put a deep conditioner on it. . I have far less breakage and hair loss with Manic Panic than with any other hair dye I've ever used. Including bleach! Usually my hair often breaks or falls out when dyeing with boxes and even salons. With Manic Panic I have no breakage and very little precipitation other than what you would normally find on your brush or shampoo. When I wash off the paint I may lose a few hairs down the drain and that's it. When I brush my hair, very few hairs fall out. Before using Manic Panic I had a lot of hair in my comb, on the floor etc. Handfuls of hair fell out when I shampooed. In earnest! No longer. I love Manic Panic very much. Color doesn't last long and almost every experience is a surprise because your color depends on so many outside factors (that's the fun part for me, but I know that others want an outcome they can predict and I understand that ), but I can say that this is a much healthier option for my hair than other brands of dye I've tried.
