This scraper works well, although I wouldn't recommend it as the only grill cleaning tool. It removes crispy, baked-on food residue from metal grates well, and with its many indentations I can easily scrape under and between the grates, which is handy. I used it on a cold grill. I did a general cleaning with the Grill Grubber BBQ Cleaning Brush and am ready for my next meal. I think for a hot grill I would recommend wearing gloves as the grate is easy to touch with fingers and hand. After all, it is a small piece of metal. As you would expect, it can be cleaned with soap and water.
