Although easy to assemble, this lamp is not very bright (certainly not bright enough to read) and is so poorly constructed that it is easy to break after assembly. I carefully grabbed both sides of it and tried to straighten the stem so that the top of the lampshade was exactly parallel to the floor (like any decent lamp) and the whole lamp just fell apart in my hands. Bottom line, this lamp looks a bit like a screwed up product design from IKEA. You have to assemble it, which at first glance isn't a disadvantage, but the components are so cheap that consumer assembly is more than the materials can physically support. Some IKEA furniture might look a little silly, but they're usually pretty solid. Not this lamp. It would probably turn to dust in strong winds.
