The traditional screw cap for water tank is poorly designed because the seal wears out over time and is very difficult to screw in and even more difficult to unscrew. Adding a small amount of food-grade mineral oil to the gasket before closing the lid allows (but definitely not easy!) the opening and closing of the lid. Elastomer seals love compression, not shear! Unfortunately most aftermarket tanks copy this poor design and I was really fed up with breaking my fingers trying to get the lid off. This design is different. The top loading and locking system uses no seals and will not wear out over time. It is easy to fill with both ice and water. This pack is sized to compliment other brands of hydration packs and is easily interchangeable. Measure your existing tank to find the right size. The magnetic mouthpiece retention system has a great design and makes it much easier to handle when cycling in winter with heavy gloves. No more fumbling with clips or getting gloves under a backpack's chest strap, which is next to impossible! Great design at a great price! My only concern is where to attach the pipe quick connector. It sits near the top of the chamber, which makes it very easy to already pack the tank (you need to fill it up before you pack it, not the other way around), but it makes it impossible to empty the tank . a hose segment between the tank and the quick connector with a tube brush without disconnecting the hoses from the tank or the quick connector. This is a very snug fit to prevent leakage and is not intended to be cycled on and off regularly. You must rinse with soapy water, although cleaning instructions recommend rinsing with water only or soaking in bleach/water or cleaning tablets from time to time. I can live with it.
