The two models gave the same result. When I inserted the disc, a window appeared saying "This disc cannot be read by this computer". I've tried using the USB-C and -A ports to ensure that connecting via a direct connection or via a port isn't an issue. Different types of discs (blank, burned, store bought) gave me the same message. Sometimes the inserted disc didn't even show up and I had to unplug and reinsert the drive to open the drive. The model's specs say it may work on a MacBook Pro, but may not work on newer ones(?). I'm not sure if there is an obvious answer here.
