Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not for the Hearing Impaired

I ordered an Orbit keychain and attached it for my tech-savvy parent who keeps losing things. I found this to be very easy to set up but they may have had problems so I made this for them to save them the hassle. Once set up it is VERY easy to use and they had no trouble understanding how it works. The only reason I don't give it the full 5 stars is because my parents have a high frequency hearing loss and cannot hear the alarm at all unless it is placed directly on their ear and even then it is weak for her. This applies to all three melodies that the device can generate. I can clearly hear ringtones coming from across the back yard or from another room in the house, but I can't hear them AT ALL. I think some of the reviews (not on Revain but elsewhere) complaining that it's not "loud" enough are actually having trouble hearing at a certain frequency. For people with high-frequency hearing loss, it's like that "mosquito ringtone" that was popular a few years ago because teenagers could hear it but teachers couldn't. My parents can continue to use the device/app by checking the map to see if orbit is close, and then using the map and the green signal strength ring displayed in the app to see if they are entering orbit or move out of orbit. The fact that the Orbit is blinking also helps because as you get closer you can see a blue blinking light if it's dark enough outside/in the room. Alternatively, they can just ask someone with good hearing to track the missing orbit, because that works great for us! Update 9/17/18: As many reviewers wrote, the original battery died immediately after about a week or two. That's fine because it comes with a spare. So if the replacement lasts the full 6 months, we'll still be satisfied. My parents didn't realize that the phone's battery needs to be charged more often because the app is always active, which some other reviewers have complained about. We exchanged it for a new one that has been running for 4 months with no battery issues.
