I use 1440p on my main monitor and remote access to various computers around the house, hating to stretch 1080p laptop displays on my endpoint. I just left them plugged into any remote machine and they cost a fraction of the 4KFit accessories I bought for the same purpose a few years ago. BONUS: My new work laptop, a 10th gen i7 computer, actually upscales the 1080p display to match the *dongle* resolution connected via HDMI, which I've never seen. The LCD screen is sharp and natural quality enough for all day if I don't mind squinting.
