I took D40 for an old lady :). I chose between it and 60 mm for a long time - in the end I settled on 85 and am glad. Autofocus is fast - of course, when compared with professional mega-lenses, it can be slow, but kamon! It's completely different money. Compared to a whale lens, it is pleasantly heavy. It is pleasant to the touch, but you should not count on getting a tactile orgasm. I didn’t try to shoot portraits, I accidentally got only a duck (in the attached ones), so I can’t say anything here. Satisfied with the results and the shooting process.
