I'm here to tell you to read and avoid these 1 star reviews. I thought Nest would solve the false alarm problem and bought 5 of these. Now, 6 months later, I run across the house to turn off the fire alarm in the master bedroom. There's no smoke anywhere. there is no fire There is no steam. no dust There are no mistakes. I manage to silence it and 10 minutes later the same thing happens again. Only this time, it alerts all Nest Protects, wakes up a sleeping baby, and drives my house crazy. What a huge waste of money and time. Nest only offers a 30-day return policy, so I'm out of luck. Save yourself the hassle and listen to the 1 star reviews. It's garbage.
