My 5 year old has wanted a ballerina music box for a year. For Christmas, she carefully selected a heart-shaped cardboard box that was selling out online and I made sure it was back in stock. As her 5th birthday approached, I decided I wanted to give her a more durable one that would allow me to be around as she got older. Her grandmother also bought her a music box, one made out of cardboard, which she also liked. After two weeks I noticed that this one had become a favorite. I can't say why that is, but it's a really nice box. The ballet flats inside are never that "nice" but I am proud of the purchase and firmly intend to buy another one for my other child's upcoming birthday as she also loves music boxes and deserves a beautiful and durable one to have. Conclusion? Costs money. Much better than cardboard and plastic (which fall apart after two weeks of brief use). These are good starter boxes, but if you just need to replace them or you have a disappointed baby, why not just get something better to start with?
