This is a great drive bay. Very fast, easy to use and looks great. But the fan noise is terrible. I mean it's too loud. I only use this for Time Machine backups with a green WD drive (which doesn't generate much heat) and an SSD for general external storage thanks to Apple's meager hard drive sizes. So I just disconnected the fan from the device. I've read that others talk a lot about the fan noise of this product. This is really very bad. To the point where it's even mentioned in the owner's manual stating that it needs to be cleaned (mmm, it's a new case). You can buy replacement fans, but I don't have time for that yet. I don't see a real heating issue at the moment, so I'll do that later. But I still give 4 stars because it's a good solution with USB C, looks good and works exactly as promised. That being said, the company should really consider a new fan supplier.
