These speakers were recommended on several blogs but I was skeptical of anything USB powered and pretty sure I wanted something with a subwoofer. After some thought, I decided that these speakers were cheap and portable enough that I could easily use them elsewhere as long as they didn't meet my unreasonable standards for typing background music and the occasional webinar. These speakers are surprisingly well balanced, delivering incredible clarity of sound from the quietest (much quieter than other speakers in this price range) to the loudest (no distortion, of course I didn't have much reason to test their upper limits). The bass is perfect at close range. At a distance, the treble sounds much higher frequency, but the speakers are clearly focused on a pair of ears sitting next to the source - and they do that surprisingly well.
