Attempting to solve a house wiring problem. Plugged the cords into the outlet and when I pulled them out the red wire just broke leaving the cord sticking dangerously out of the outlet. The side of the black wire that goes into the multimeter was damaged when I took it out of the box. One of the four pins was sticking out at the sharp end. The black wire is visible in the photo after I managed to put it back, but it's still deformed and will eventually scratch the connector in the voltmeter. Let's just say that the red probe enters the multimeter smoothly, and the black one has a small resistance after it is inserted. My guess is that the damage to the black probe is due to the metal stand pressing against all the other components when closed. good for the money but my first try was unsuccessful. Please note that I have not used other components such as soldering before but am now skeptical of the quality due to inferior multimeter leads.
