We chose what we liked.

After trying the first vacuum cleaner (Shark), we found that the power cord is much shorter than what we are used to. You could hardly cover an entire room without looking for an extension cord. Another issue with what we ordered was that it was quite heavy and difficult to move around the room. So we're back to the same vacuum we've been using for about 15 years. Orek. My wife is completely satisfied with Oreck, which of course I should be too.
