I wanted a windbreak for hiking. I do everything with my own hands. This would be more expensive to do by hand though, so I decided to modify one of these inexpensive windshields and see what I could come up with. This worked for me. I bought the 10 panel version to work with larger ovens like a pocket rocket. Before the rebuild: It was too big, clunky and heavy (for my taste) for hiking. It weighs 9 ounces. as sent. He was taller than "should be". I often use leveling feet on my fuel tanks. The standard screen did not fit on it. When I started, he generally didn't do anything I wanted. After modification: I took it apart (slightly), trimmed 1 1/2" from the top, removed 5 panels and trimmed about 5/8" from the bottom. The finished windshield now weighs 3.5 ounces. It's small enough to fit in my kitchen set. It's a little shorter than my long-handled spoon. It wraps around the pot which I use 95% of the time. As a bonus, I was able to make 2 of these windshields for $10. That is a lot. Now my wife has a great windbreak too.
