Review on 🦑 10Ft Giant Octopus Parafoil Kite with Handle & String by Amazona's Presentz by Michael Bressler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was hesitant at first, but wow!

I was wanting to buy some cheap kites to add to my collection and when I saw this and the reviews seemed decent I decided to try it out a little dubious. The bag is not the same as in the photo. It's made of the same material as the kite, so think sheer nylon with thin, thread-like cord. The bag was also smaller than I imagined. The kite is almost the same as in the photo. Mine is a little more purple than the purple in the photo, but it was close enough that I was happy with how it looked. It had some small water spots where I believe some liquid came in contact with it during production. It doesn't matter and I suspect they will come loose if I put a damp cloth on them. It's not enough that I mention it just for the sake of thoroughness to make me want to return it or be unhappy. There were no instructions for the dragon. I doubted again. I've had hydrofoils before so I wasn't intimidated by the amount of spaghetti rope that came off them, but they gave no instructions on where to even attach the rope that was provided. I tied a large loop at the end and used a lark head knot over the last knot in the kite lines, but in the future I will add a paracord loop to the end of this kite line as one kite's rope can cut through another. Ropes when they rub against each other, so it's better to fix them with something thicker, like paracord. After attaching the included rope to the lines, untying the tails and letting go, I held it while the foil filled and untied. The wind was not very strong, maximum 8 m/s on the ground, slightly higher above the trees. I was stunned when this thing took off immediately and flew perfectly. We put 4 kites on the field that day and we had no luck with the other 3 (one had a mechanical problem). They just didn't want to fly in these conditions. I think the wind was too weak for them. This flew perfectly. I'm not kidding when I say I was stunned. After more than an hour of battling our other kites, it was great fun to just sit back and watch this one fly lazily as intended. It also pulled surprisingly hard when there was a slight gust of wind, which made it even more fun. This is a reliable kite in the right conditions. Our wind speed was around 8 m/s. This kite will be my staple if I just want to fly a lazy kite or one that I can just tie down and let it do its thing. Cheap? I've read a lot that this kite is cheap junk. You get what you pay for. This is not an $80 kite. The material is thin, but it should be thin. If it were thicker it wouldn't work as well. Fly in reasonable conditions and the thin material it's made of won't pose a problem. If you hit it in a strong wind I'm not sure how long it will last. As for me, I can see that this kite will last a long time because I take care of my belongings and know when to leave it in my bag. Everything is fine with the bag. It's not great, but then again it's a cheap kite. It won't come with a super fancy bag. The supplied cable is probably the weakest point. It worked, but I'd like to use a better line with this one. I don't like small handles or cheap line. But then again, it was exactly what I expected given the price. Stowage was another issue for me, the airfoil kites I've had have a loop to attach line tangles to keep them from getting tangled. It's not like this. Just be careful not to get tangled up in the kite's multiple lines, as that's a recipe for frustration. If you doubt it, for the price I'd say give it a try. If it doesn't fly for you, try it in other conditions. I was VERY pleasantly surprised at how this kite flew for me and I am 100% glad I bought it.
