Better than nothing

I am using this with an iPhone in a 2008 Mercedes E350. This device keeps the iPhone playing music all the time, which usually means playing the first song in your music app. I've heard the first seconds of abracadabra hundreds of times since I bought this device. I finally decided to counteract this by purchasing "A aaa Very Good Song" from the iTunes store which is only 10 minutes of silence and is designed to solve this exact problem. You can't pause the music - when I pause. is on the phone, this device will continue to tell the iPhone to play. If you don't want to listen to music, you have to turn off the head unit (you can't use navigation with it either). I usually use Spotify - I haven't intentionally listened to Abracadabra in decades. I can usually get the phone to play Spotify, but every once in a while it lets Abracadabra play. Sometimes when I turn off the music app it lets me play Spotify but other times even that isn't enough and it keeps restarting the music app and won't let Spotify play. The information is usually displayed in the area of the speedometer. displays the currently playing song and allows you to switch between tracks using the steering wheel controls. The buttons on the main unit itself never work to skip tracks, nor does the display on the main unit show any information (I contacted their support and this is the expected behavior). Sometimes the information display shows "No iPod". and won't let me skip tracks even though the music is still playing. I also contacted their support team and they had no solution. To skip tracks, the information display must be on the Audio page. For example, if you have it on the temperature or navigation page, the steering wheel controls will not work to skip tracks. It's unreliable, but works as it should about 90% of the time. That's better than nothing, and so far I haven't found the best options for adding Bluetooth support to this car. I've also tried CoolStream CarPro and it seems to work exactly the same (ie the phone plays constantly and works correctly about 90% of the time). It must be the same device, just in different packaging.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Long delivery time
