This gate has many features that make it very useful. I have installed many of them in my own and others' homes. First, when properly installed, it can be manipulated with one hand. Second, it's a snap to take apart and put back together, which is a great benefit at the grandparents' house or anytime. You need to move a large piece of furniture with it, you just don't want to look at it, etc. Third, when the corridor/stairs/door is not closed, it will fold up and take up less wall space. Rub the sliding parts with paraffin before installation and periodically during use. It's pretty durable. The slats let a cat or a very small dog pass while preventing a child from climbing. Good product at a reasonable price.
