After reading a lot of reviews for leather cases that were given 1 star for being made of plastic, I decided on this one because no reviewer said that. That said, the other cases looked exactly like this one, so I figured they were private labeling on cheap China junk. When it came in, I was pleased with the texture of the leather. If it is faux leather, I can't detect it. It feels nice in the hands, and it looks really slick. It makes the Kindle look like an expensive book. It meets my needs and expectations, so I'll give it 5 stars. As far as the single 4 star reviews complaint, it doesn't need an instruction sheet , it is about as self explanatory as a tooth brush.Followup after 1 year of use: I still can't detect any sign of wear, no fading, no worn places, no split seams. I use my Kindle a lot so this one is handles on a daily, and almost hourly basis. I don't go anywhere without it in my pocket or in my car. Tonight I thought I had lost my Kindle, and I was most upset that I lost the case. It also has a nice pocket in the front to put your business card or an address or phone number to call if it is lost. That was some comfort when I feared it was lost. This case is still gorgeous, my Paperwhite still looks new, and since I spend a lot of time in waiting rooms, it looks like I am reading a leather bound book of some sort. This cover is the best bang for the buck I have ever had in a Kindle cover.
