These are tie rods. I find they either work or they don't, and they work pretty well. They snap, don't easily (or accidentally) disengage, and do their job. They are thin so if you are handing really heavy or ornate curtains I would look elsewhere. But really, how many people are attached to it with beautiful embroidered curtains? They hang in my classroom windows and the kids haven't destroyed them yet, so they're an asset in my book.
