I bought these for some very large studio doors that used to rock a lot. I still needed to be able to open the doors as wide as possible when carrying large items, so no fixed bottom doorstops or hinges worked. The magnet seems to catch every time, which is great, but you definitely need to "mount" the door to the magnet, it doesn't seem to catch the door when rotating (to be honest, those are huge, 8-foot -doors) . During installation, if you place your foot on the magnetic clip and push down, it will release and allow you to open the door past the bracket. Exactly what I needed. Updated when they work very well or fail quickly. Everything seems to be working great now.
