I had to put it on the outside of the rail for two reasons: barletta rails are 1.5" not 1.25" and the cockpit area on my boat fairings is almost flush with the rails on the inside. Not a big deal, but it does mean the mirror assembly has to be screwed in differently, with the hex screw now on the outer arc and the cap screw in the middle. So, after this manipulation, I notice that the mirror has a small defect. There is a small fisheye defect on the surface. I go to Home Depot to get some screw lock or screw tape and a rod that screws into the platter - the plastic doesn't hold it very tight.
