Let me start with that. The locks were finished but it's not a problem for me as I have a disc cutter and I got over it quickly. I also had to shorten the waves a bit. But after I ground down the flats on each shaft, they slid right into the nylon worm gear and back into the black plastic assembly, which I had to pry open very, very carefully with a chisel and screwdriver. You can do this, it takes about an hour on the driver's door and after a learning curve, about 25 minutes on the passenger's door. Be sure to pull the tab on the driver's door key lock, and rather than struggling against it, pull on the extension that enters the mechanism. You'll see what I mean when you get into it. I'm sure there are many other uses for these little motors, but they've worked well for me. It seems the bigger the challenge, the more I grow to handle it. I almost always win the fight. Perseverance is what you need
