Me used 6mm inserts in the cabinet plywood with a 5/16" hole (8mm is best) and they all went in with no problem. I also removed and reused a few of these. I had a crack, but that was because my Allen key was at an angle. I prefer slotted threads because they cut into super thick plywood much easier than the other styles.
