Program your own modules for the price of a dealer hour!

I bought a used 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 that had a bad RCDLR (receiver) that controls FOB door locks with keys and TPMS (tire pressure system) which resulted in mine TPMS is on The dashboard is on and the key fob is not working. The dealer first told me that they could not read the Body Control Module (BCM) or RCDLR and that they would need to run diagnostics to figure out the problem before they could determine the cause and replacement. All of this would equal labor hours and $$$$. Searched the internet and found this company that sells these OBD2 software modules for a fraction of the cost of a dealer programming system and definitely cheaper than dealer hours. When I received it, it took me several hours to figure out how to properly install it, use the program, and explore the features of the included Tech2WIN program. You must carefully follow the instructions on the VCXDIAG website to install the software and firmware. Tip: Use the software CD to install everything instead of going to the website for updated software. I noticed that you are having trouble locating the TECH2WIN VCXDiag NANO module when using the updated VX Manager program from the website. I installed this on a windows 7 32 bit laptop which I only have for programming and diagnosing all my vehicles. I read that it works with Windows 10 64 bit, but I can't comment on that. Once I got it working I was able to use TECH2WIN to read all of my truck's modules, even the BCM which the dealer couldn't read. I thought the RCDLR was defective and bought a new one, but it had to be reprogrammed into the BCM. You cannot use the TECH2WIN software for reprogramming, you must go to the AC Delco website and buy a 2 year one car (VIN) program subscription for $40. YouTube has videos that show you briefly how to program the module with their software. Make sure you are using Windows Explorer and have the latest version of Java installed on your computer as this will be used by the AC Delco PLC reprogramming software. You will need to open the VX Manager software for your VCXDiag NANO, go to the 'Diagnostics' tab and install the 'PASSTHRU' software/driver in order to use the Delco SPS AC programming software. This will allow you to see VCXDiag NANO in the drop-down list of Delco SPS AC software modules labeled "VCX J2354" (or similar). When using and opening the AC Delco PLC software, you will be prompted to update the GM MDI software. I would advise against this as I couldn't see the VCXDiag NANO module (ie VCXJ2354) at the time and had to reset the GM MDI software. If you want to reprogram a module, you need to know the software and hardware information. Module to select the correct module configuration for programming. You can read out this information from the module with TECH2WIN before you try to reprogram it. Before reprogramming, make sure that the correct module version numbers are selected, otherwise you will receive an error message in the Delco PLC AC when programming. I made this mistake first, but you just exit the program and turn the key in the ignition on and off and hypothetically no harm is done (at least in my case). All in all the PLC software VCXDiag NANO, TECH2WIN and AC Delco helped me and reprogrammed the RCDLR for my BCM which fixed the TPMS and keyfob. Please note my vehicle uses TECH2WIN software to communicate with my truck and new GM vehicles may use GSDS programming software. I haven't used the GSDS program/software so I can't tell how to use it or install it correctly, but it comes with a VCXDiag NANO on a CD. NOTE: You must have some computer literacy for these various programs and VCXDiag Nano to work properly. If not, either do your homework ahead of time (e.g. forums, youtube, websites) or don't try and find someone else who can, or pay dealer prices. In my opinion this is a good product that does what it says on the tin and is more than worth the money and time for a self-diagnostic or self-programming. Instead of going to the dealer and making the back payment.
