When the original BCM94360CS internal Wi-Fi card only provided intermittent connections, it wasn't worth spending more than $1,200 to repair or replace the motherboard to install an internal Wi-Fi card on a MacBook. . This $14 USB device replaced a faulty internal Wi-Fi card that connected to the motherboard and allowed the MacBook to stay up and running. Luckily this USB Wi-Fi device was available and working on MAC OS.
